Designing interfaces people can actually read

Readable interfaces are built from contrast, hierarchy, spacing, focus states, and restraint.

Good interface design reduces the amount of work a person has to do to understand a screen. Clear hierarchy, comfortable line lengths, visible focus states, and semantic controls make the experience more dependable. Responsive design is not only about fitting a layout on a smaller screen. It is about keeping the important action and information easy to find at every size.
